Drawings
by Heinz Meier
Heinz Meier
Heinz is a Swiss American architect who loved to document his travels with beautiful drawings. He now lives with Parkinson's and Alzheimer's and can no longer draw, but he loves to share his drawings with you.
What survived the fire
Heinz and his wife Ruth's home was destroyed in the January 2025 wildfire in Pacific Palisades. But most of his drawings survived in an underground safe.
THE SKETCHES
Bhutan’s Panaka Dzong
From a group tour in Bhutan to a quiet moment with his sketchbook, Heinz found a way to capture Punakha Dzong in his own way. Discover the story behind the drawing and the little pieces of his life preserved in his art.
The Mayflower II
Traveling to the East Coast in 1998, Heinz drew this intricate sketch of the Mayflower II, a reproduction of the original ship, on display in Plymouth Harbor.
